Guide overview

Summary:
This guide walks you through getting started as a lead buyer invited by a lead seller, including creating your account, accepting the invitation, setting up your lead delivery integration, and testing lead submission to confirm successful delivery.

Learning objectives:

  • Create your ActiveProspect account to access and manage lead flows.
  • Accept your invitation and formally connect with your lead seller.
  • Choose the system where you want your leads to be delivered.
  • Configure the lead delivery integration to meet your destination’s requirements.
  • Test the complete lead submission process with your seller to confirm a successful setup.

Quick start workflow

  1. Accept your invitation to connect & create your account
  2. Select your lead delivery destination
  3. Configure your lead delivery integration
  4. Test lead submission with your seller

Step‑by‑step instructions

Step 1. Accept your invitation to connect & create your account

  • Goal: Accept the invitation to connect and establish your ActiveProspect account, which is required to access LeadConduit and receive leads from your seller.
  • Context: An invitation from your lead seller includes the option to create an account and automatically enroll you in a free LeadConduit for Partners subscription if you do not already have one.

Instructions:

  1. Open the invitation email sent by your lead seller.

  2. Click “Accept Invite to Connect” in the email and you will be prompted to sign in or create a new account.

    • If your company already has an ActiveProspect account, ensure you are a member of the account before accepting the invite.

  3. Follow the on‑screen instructions to sign in or create an account. Once you do that, the connection will automatically be made.

Expected result:
Your ActiveProspect account is activated and, if you are a new user, you are enrolled in the free LeadConduit for Partners subscription.

Step 2. Select where you want your leads delivered

  • Goal: Choose the Destination system (e.g., a CRM, call center, or another lead management platform) where your incoming leads will be stored and managed.
  • Context: After connecting with your seller, you need to configure the Destination that aligns with your operational workflow or select the flow in which you want to receive leads from your seller. This step ensures that once leads enter your flow, they are seamlessly directed to the correct system.

Instructions:

If you have a free LeadConduit account:

  1. Navigate to the Destinations page within your ActiveProspect account.
  2. Click on the Create Destination button.
  3. Review and select from the list of available integrations (such as HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.).
  4. Choose the integration that matches your lead management system.

Expected result:
A confirmation is displayed showing that your lead Destination has been selected and recorded, ensuring that leads routed from your seller will be delivered to the chosen Destination.

If you have a paid LeadConduit account:

  1. After accepting the invite with your company’s ActiveProspect account you will receive a confirmation modal

  2. Then, you should decide whether you want to receive your seller’s lead in a new or already existing flow.

    paid buyer flow selection

  3. If you select Create a new flow a flow named Buyer Step Flow will be created with your seller partner as an Account Source; otherwise, if you select an already existing flow, your partner will be added as an Account Source in that flow.

Step 3. Configure lead delivery integration

  • Goal: Set up the details of your lead delivery integration so that leads are formatted correctly and sent to your chosen Destination or Recipient.
  • Context: During the integration configuration, you will assign a name, optionally include a description, choose an authentication method (like an API key or OAuth), and specify any additional parameters—such as field mappings or list selections—to match your Destination or Recipient system’s requirements.

Instructions:

  1. Select your Destination or Recipient system.

    destination name

  2. Provide a unique and descriptive name for this integration; optionally add a brief description to clarify its purpose.

  5. If required, enter additional settings (such as specifying a list or segment within your Destination).

  6. Click Save Configuration (or equivalent) to finalize the integration setup.

Step 4. Test lead submission with the seller to ensure successful delivery

  • Goal: Verify that the lead delivery integration is correctly configured by testing the entire lead submission process from your seller to your Destination or Recipient.
  • Context: Testing helps confirm that the rules, field mappings, and authentication parameters are correct; this step detects any misconfigurations or mapping errors before live leads are processed.

Instructions:

  1. If you have a free LeadConduit account, from your ActiveProspect Destinations page, locate the testing feature (this might involve setting a test parameter such as is_test=true), otherwise, if you have a paid LeadConduit account, go to the flow editor and submit a test lead from there.
  2. Instruct your lead seller or use a testing tool to send a test lead through your flow.
  3. Monitor the lead’s progress on the Events tab in ActiveProspect, checking the status of the test lead.
  4. Log in to your Destination or Recipient system (for example, your CRM) and verify that the test lead appears with correctly mapped and formatted data.

Expected result:
You receive confirmation through dashboard indicators and notifications that the test lead has been successfully processed, validated, and delivered to your Destination or Recipient. Any errors encountered are clearly displayed for troubleshooting.

Validate your setup

To ensure your entire setup is working as intended:

• Sign in to your ActiveProspect account and navigate to the Events tab.
• Verify that a test lead submission appears with a status indicating successful delivery (or an informative error if something is wrong).
• Check your Destination system to confirm that the test lead has been received with all expected data fields correctly populated.

If all components—from account creation, invitation acceptance, destination selection, integration configuration, to test submission—are validated, your setup is complete and you are ready to start receiving leads from your seller.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I need an ActiveProspect account to receive leads?

Yes. You must create or use an existing ActiveProspect account to access LeadConduit and receive leads from your seller.

What happens after I accept the invitation?

Once you accept the invitation, your account is connected with your lead seller’s account, granting you access to LeadConduit. Depending on your account type, you may be automatically assigned a free LeadConduit for Partners subscription or prompted to select a flow for lead delivery.

Can I change my Destination after configuring it?

Yes. You can modify your Destination settings by returning to the Destinations page and editing your integration configuration as needed.

What if my test lead fails to appear in my Destination system?

Review your lead delivery integration settings, verify that all field mappings and authentication details are correct, and check for any error messages in the Events tab. Adjust the configuration as necessary and retest.

How do I ensure my leads are delivered with the correct data formats?

Use Outbound Field Mapping to align data fields with the specific parameter names required by your Destination system. Testing with sample leads helps confirm that all fields are formatted correctly.

What can I do if I’ve received an invitation from a seller, but I don’t have access to my company’s ActiveProspect account?

If a seller sent you an invite to connect to an email address that is not part of your company’s ActiveProspect account, you should ask an admin member from the ActiveProspect account to include you as an account member with LeadConduit access; then, after accepting the membership, you should proceed with the seller’s invite acceptance.
