What happens if I change a recipient name and that recipient step processes a lead before I can go in and make the update to appended data references?

The step will process the lead based on the configuration of the flow prior to the recipient name change. Said another way, the flow will process as it did prior to the recipient name change. Here’s an example event after the name update to Lame Recipient, but before updating the appended data in the step editor:

Here’s how that will look after I update the appended data to reference Lame Recipient:
