RND Query
The Reassigned Numbers Database (RND or Database) is an important part of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) multi-pronged approach to addressing the problem of unwanted calls. When a telephone number is reassigned, callers may inadvertently reach the new consumer (who now has the reassigned number), not who they intended to call (the number’s prior owner). These calls can be incredibly annoying to the recipients who do not want to receive them and can subject callers to liability under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
What constitutes a …
| Success | Failure | Error |
|---|---|---|
| The service is available, and the provided phone number has not been disconnected since the date provided. | The service is available but cannot complete your request, or the provided phone number has been disconnected since the date provided. | The service is unreachable or has encountered an unexpected error. Any details available will be present in the reason field. |
How It Works
You must follow the instructions at https://www.reassigned.us/ to obtain an account and purchase a subscription to use the RND. Once completed you will able to use the Reassigned Numbers Database: Query integration to check your leads’ phone numbers to see if they have been disconnected since a certain date. By default this will report if a number has been disconnected anytime in the last 90 days. This “Lookback” period can be adjusted by editing the field mappings after adding the step. This field can be set to an integer representing the number of days in the past that should be queried (e.g., 3, 10, 30, 365) or a specific date (in YYYY-MM-DD format) to start from (e.g., 2021-10-15, 2022-01-01) When leads enter your flow and are passed through this step they will be appended with a Reassigned Numbers Database Query Disconnected field which answers the question “Has the provided phone number has been disconnected since the provided data?” Possible answers are “yes”, “no”, and “no data”.
Adding Credentials
Once your account is approved and your subscription activated, you can visit your API Credentials page to retrieve your Refresh Token. You must agree to the terms of use and click the “Generate Token” button, which will be displayed below. Make sure to store this token somewhere safe so that you can retrieve it, as it will not be retrievable from your RND account again. If you lose this token, you will have to generate a new one which will invalidate the existing one (and break any steps using it).
Next, you must get your Company ID, which is shown on your Company Information page.
Enhancing a lead
Simply search for “Reassigned Numbers Database” while adding an integration step to your flow.
Change the “Lookback” to a range that suits your business needs.
Your flow is now ready to take advantage of the disconnected status returned by the RND!
Things to Note
- The appended fields “Telephone Number Provided” and “Date Provided” are presented for your convenience when verifying what information the RND received in the request. These are not meant to be used as filtering criteria.
- Access to the RND is managed by tokens, which sometimes must be refreshed. This will cause the integration step to include more than one transaction in the “Technical Details” section of the results. The additional transactions do not impact your ActiveProspect usage or the number of RND queries used.
- If you generate a new token after configuring steps that use the previous token, they will need to be reconfigured.
