Ping Limits are available to LeadConduit users of Real-time Bidding. Setting a ping limit ensures that a source does not excessively ping your flow. This is especially helpful when adding a new vendor. When the source has met a ping rate limit, they must wait until the time period expires before pinging the flow again.
How to set a ping limit
- Click Edit Flow then navigate to the Sources tab
- Click + Add in the Ping Limit column for the target source a window will open
- Click Add Ping Limit
- Set a maximum rate limit of pings that you want to receive from this source per a specified time period
- Use + and - to add another limit or remove a limit
- Be sure to save your flow after setting your limit
What happens when a ping limit is met?
When a source pings the flow and any ping limit has been met, LeadConduit will respond back with an 429 error message “Too Many Requests”. Once the ping limit’s time window has expired, the flow will process pings normally again.
{ “status”: 429, “message”: “Too Many Requests”, “retry_after”: 139335 }
What is the difference between how Ping Limits and Volume Caps work?
Every ping received will count towards the ping limit. By contrast, only successful lead submissions count towards a Volume Cap. Continue to use volume caps to limit your purchases.
