Feature Snapshot

Summary:
Custom Sources are user-defined configurations in LeadConduit that allow you to receive and process leads from non-standard or proprietary sources not available in the pre-built library.

Key Benefits:

  • Flexibility to integrate with unique, non-standard, or proprietary lead sources.
  • Enhanced control over inbound field mapping, data routing, and integration settings for custom setups.
  • Ability to tailor lead intake, validation, and processing for sources that do not conform to standard templates.

Typical Use Cases:

  • Integrating leads from proprietary web forms or niche lead vendors.
  • Handling unique data structures and specialized field mappings that standard sources cannot accommodate.
  • Configuring custom integrations for internal systems or non-listed vendors.

How the Custom Sources feature works?

Custom Sources reside within the LeadConduit Sources and are created and managed by you. They function like standard sources, but with the added benefit of complete configuration flexibility. By assigning a unique name, detailed description, and custom integration settings, you can tailor how leads from non-standard sources are received, mapped, and processed in your flow.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to your Flow, click on Edit Flow, and select Sources from the Add to Flow menu.
  2. Click the Create a new source button from the Add Source modal and select I’m generating my own leads.
  3. Select the integration type appropriate for your needs (the default is the LeadConduit Standard integration, or choose from advanced options if required).
  4. Enter a unique Source Name that clearly identifies the lead provider, and optionally assign a classification.
  5. Confirm the creation by clicking Create New Source, then click Save in the flow editor to commit the changes.

Expected Result:
The new custom source appears in the Sources step with its assigned name and integration. If the source is active in your flow, a green toggle will indicate its current application.

Validation & Monitoring (optional)

  • Test the Setup: Submit a test lead using the new custom source and verify that the lead data is correctly mapped and routed through your flow.
  • Where to Monitor?: Check the Events tab and LeadConduit Dashboard to monitor lead processing status and mapping accuracy.

Best Practices

  • Prefer using standard sources whenever available; reserve custom sources for unique or non-standard lead providers.
  • Use clear and descriptive naming conventions for each custom source to avoid confusion.
  • Regularly review and update custom sources to remove obsolete entries or correct any mapping issues.
  • Coordinate with your vendors to ensure that the formats and field names they use are accurately reflected in your inbound mappings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are custom sources in LeadConduit?

Custom sources are configurations created by users to intake and process leads from non-standard or proprietary lead providers that are not available in the standard source library.

Why would I use a custom source instead of a standard one?

You would use a custom source when your lead provider isn’t listed in the standard library or when you require specialized field mappings, routing, or integration settings that standard sources do not offer.

How do I add a custom source to my flow?

In the flow editor, go to Add to Flow > Sources, click the Create a new source button, then click on I’m generating my own leads, fill in the required details (name and integration type), and save your flow.

Can I edit a custom source after it’s been created?

Yes. Simply click on the custom source name in the Sources list to edit its details or delete it, ensuring that it is not actively used by any flow before deletion.

Can I associate a custom source with a Connection?

Yes, to associate a custom source with a Connection, ensure you are connected to the account you want to associate with your custom source. Follow these guidelines to learn how to connect with your partners. Then, after you have connected, you should follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your LeadConduit account and go to the Sources page

  2. Search for the custom source you want to associate with your Connection

    sources table

  3. Open the Actions menu and click on Edit Source

  4. Then, open the Associated Connection dropdown menu and select the account you want to associate with your custom source

Notice that you cannot associate a custom source with another Connection after you have made this association.

    edit source modal

  5. Finally, click on Update, and that’s all!

Now, when the account you selected goes to their Recipients > Submission Docs page, they will have access to the Submission Docs related to the Flows in which you have added your custom source.
