When delivering a lead to a recipient, sometimes there is no response, but instead an error in delivery. If the error mentions verifying a certificate, the problem is likely to be a secure http error based on the SSL/TLS certificate of the delivery or query endpoint.
To look more carefully into the error, first examine a lead that generates this error.
- Display a lead encountering the error from the Leads or Leads->Lead Events viewer
- Click on the step with the error
- Expand the Technical Details on the right
- Note the base URL, i.e., fully qualified host name, to which the request is being sent
- Go to an SSL checker such as https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html and run a check on the hostname
You will likely see a message regarding the certificate or a part of the certificate chain. This is not an error that can be resolved by ActiveProspect. A certificate chain error indicates that the intermediate certificate or certificates are not installed on the server. This is an error that is occurring on the remote server. We recommend reaching out to the system administrator of the endpoint to see if they can work with the certificate authority to correct this.
